Look who we got to visit today! My nephew Liam is home from the hospital and he is beautiful!
Looooovvvveeeee the way babies smell!
I have just spent the last hour reading the last 35 emails in my mail box ( I have lots more to go still) and I am so thrilled with all of the fantastic ideas you have left about how to organize your photos. Thank you so much! I had tagged my photos in the past and then my computer crashed and I lost all of the tags. I also work between two computers and two external hard drives so I don't think an organizer type program will work for me. I love the idea of changing the end of the photo name once you have used it - I never thought of doing that! I do individual books for my 3 children plus annual family books. There may be a certain photo that I want both in their individual book and in the annual family book so I think I will add on to the end of the "scrapped" photo _a for Abby's book, _b for Brady, _j for Joshie or _f for family book, that way if I end up using it in both books it will have _a_f. I think it is also all about discipline isn't it?! Forcing yourself to do it each and every time :)

But you can still get them here

Thank you....continually for these kits!
As for my scrapping organization...I love it! It's a no-fail, easy to do way of scrapping and keeping this together. I scrap by theme. therefore, when I download my pcitures, I immediately go through them to delete the ones that aren't good, duplicates, etc. Then I label that folder according to the year_event. I copy this folder onto my external and leave a copy on my computer. I then go into the one on my computer and delete most of the pictures. I keep only what I think I will use in one layout. This way, when it is time to scrap, I can go into my main folder and choose which event I want to do. Of cousre, once it has been scrapped, i delete that folder as the original is already stored on my external hard drive. I keep all my digital files and jpgs in separate folders on separate external drives in case one drive was to crash. I'm also looking at storing my photos through heritage makers (which has unlimited photo storage and book printing options far superior to Shutterfly. Let me know if you want more information.) Thanks for your honesty and your talent. I love your blog and I love this project!!! I'll post layouts soon.

Oh my, Liam is an so absolutely adorable. The LO is super.
I like the idea of changing the name at the ned of the photo best. I have one HD to hold all original photos (this is a safety feature in case something happens to the other set). I then store a duplicate set on another HD (these are the ones I change the names on and work with). I also keep a folder with all the layouts I have done - these also have the file name of the photo in their title just so I can easily find the photo I used if needed.
So really what I end up with is three copies of the photos but I feel safe knowing I have all these backups. Very often of course the ones used in layouts have been altered in some way but as log as I have kept the PS Layered file, the photo can be accessed with no problem.
Thank you for taking on this project, you have really inspired me to make some ABC layouts for my family that will leave a lasting legacy of memories for them. Thankfully you are not rushing through the alphabet. I am just begining the B layouts I am slow to scrap so love seeing what others have done (it gets my creative juices flowing). I am hoping to catch up and by Christmas should have some wonderful albums to share with family, thanks to you.
I am so thankful to be able to walk this journey with you and all the readers.

Thank you for the beautiful skip-papers, and that photo of Liam is sooo gorgeous ! Just want to hug him, and that smell, you are so right ;-) It really is a shame they grow up so fast LOL As for organization of your photos, no tips from me, I am just too chaotic and found that I scrapped the same photos more than once too :-)

What a cutie pie he is!!! Thanks so much for sharing your continuing kit. I scrap chronologically also and I also do a book for each of my three kids and one for me each year. I store my original photos on dvd and I have an account with SmugMug. It's unlimitied storage for $40 a year and there aren't any pesky ads to deal with. I feel pretty safe knowing I have an external source of backup besides me LOL... I keep the photos I'm working with on my ehd and alter them as needed because I have the two backups of the originals. I like the idea of renaming the file when it has been used. That would be very helpful.

Liam is so cute. That picture just makes you want to reach out and hug him. YOur right about the smell of a baby. I miss that with a 17 and 13 year old. Now all I smell is sweaty kids. Hope the frame Liam is in becomes one of our goodies! It is as cute as Liam. Thanks for this whole Run Skip Jump project. It rocks!

Beautiful baby! Love the papers.
I have my photos on its own drive. I have folders for each year(labeled 2006, 2007, 2008, etc.)with monthly folders in that (labeled 200801, 200802 ~ for January 08, February 08, etc...). I then have folders inside of the months labeled the date and event (December I had over 1,000 pictures!). The labeling for this is something like this: 122407 Christmas Eve Kids PJ's, etc... (December 24, 2007 would be the date); 010408 movers pack house (Jan, 4, 2008) This makes it easier to find the photo and even remember what happened during the month!
I have a notepad that I use to jot down the location of pictures I like from each event and scrap them as I come to it. I am way behind on scrapping; I have only been digitally scrapping for 2 years...lots to catch up on!
I also do a monthly "news" double page spread just to highlight what our family did over the month. I then take my favorite events and do a separate page(s) on that. Some months I have a lot of pages, other months I just have the double page news spread. I really love doing this.

Liam is so adorable, glad he's home. Baby's do smell so good. I'm expecting my 3rd and I am so anxious for the little one to get here, but I have a ways to go (Sept. 21). And I have so much to do before then, alot of organizing to make room for him or her.
I just love these kits you are doing!! Thank you so much for sharing. I have none of my digital stuff organized, everyone has some great ideas. I have an external HD with all of my photos and digital kits on it, but I really need to backup everything. I just can't decide if I should buy another HD and put everything on there for safe keeping (unplugged) or should I backup onto dvd. Don't know what I'm gonna do. Any suggestions? It scares me to death the thought of losing my pictures.
